About the Anglican Church

In the quarter of a century since the beginnings, the Province of Christ the King has grown from one Diocese into five - The Diocese of the Western States, The Diocese of the Eastern States, The Diocese of the Southwestern States, The Diocese of the Southern States, and The Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. Now embracing more than fifty parishes, the Province maintains its national headquarters in Washington, D.C.

In 1979, the Province of Christ the King established Saint Joseph of Arimathea Anglican Theological College in Berkeley, California. The seminary has given many committed and trained clergy to parishes throughout the Province. The College was founded under the patronage of Saint Joseph of Arimathea, the legendary founder of English Christianity.

The Province of Christ the King follows the teaching of Jesus Christ and stands by the historic Faith and the Anglican tradition. The guiding principles of this faith are to be found in the 1928 Book of Common Prayer and Holy Scripture. This dynamic Anglican faith has produced:

  • the King James Bible,
  • most of Western Christendom's great church music,
  • William Shakespeare, T. S. Eliot, C. S. Lewis, Charles Williams, George Frederic Handel, John Donne, Charles Dickens, Jeremy Taylor, Dorothy Sayers, George Herbert, Jonathan Swift, Evelyn Underhill, William Law, John Newton, John Milton, George Berkeley, William Wilberforce,
  • eleven former U S. presidents and most of our nation's founding fathers.
